Occupying an area of 31 sq km, Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary is about 6 km from
Jammu in
Jammu and Kashmir.
Situated at an altitude of 430 to 611 m, the sanctuary has a two bed roomed hut. Each hut is equipped with 2 bedrooms with 4 beds.
The sanctuary keeps up 8 mammal species including nilgai and barking deer, wild boar and rhesus monkey. It is also a natural habitat for a variety of birds (around 15 species of birds) including Indian mynah, blue rock pigeon, white peafowl,
red jungle fowl,
jungle crow,
golden oriole and Himalayan bulbul.
The apt season for mammal viewing is from the months of September to March and for bird viewing, March to May.
Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary is easily accessible from the Jammu Airport (about 8 km) and the Jammu Tawi Railway Station (about 6 km.)
