Himalayan Bulbul (Pycnonotus leucogenys) is a rare resident, found in Morni Hills and Kalesar forests of
Haryana. The bird is recognized by its black head, white cheeks and yellow patch under tail. It is locally called Kushandra or Bhooroo. The bird grows up to 18 cm in length. Its upperparts are dull grey, with darker flight feathers and black-brown tail whose feathers show terminal white spots. Eyes are red-brown, narrow yellow eye-ring.
The bird feeds primarily on insects, fruit and berries. Seeds, buds and nectar are also consumed.
Himalayan Bulbul can be seen in the Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Jammu and Kashmir.
