Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur is the seat of administration of Kheri District in Uttar Pradesh. It is almost contiguous with Kheri town, which is just 2 km north-west of it. Lakhimpur is the corruption of its original name Luxmipur, named after a Luxmi Temple (Sankata Devi) situated there.

Extensive tea gardens found around Lakhimpur offers a charming sight. Places of tourist interest include Frog Temple, Shiv Temple at Devkali and Lilauti Nath Temple. Dudhwa National Park is a must see destination outside Lakhimpur.

Lakhimpur is 135 km north of Lucknow. Nearest airport is at Lucknow. Lakhimpur Railway Station is situated on the Pilibhit-Sitapur line.
