Jorethang is a major business hub in the
South Sikkim District, on the
west bengal border, 30 km from
Darjeeling. The place is linked by buses to
Yuksom (3 hours), Legship (1 hour) and Gezing (2 1/2 hours).
The
Makar Sankranti (Maghe) Mela celebrated here in January attracts a large crowd from all over Sikkim. It is celebrated soon after harvest and lasts for three days.
