Shitaleshwara Temple is an ancient temple survived only with the sanctum and vestibule. Built in the year 689, it is situated at Chandrabhaga, in
Jhalawar District of
Rajasthan.
Shitaleshwara Temple has great resemblance to the Kansua Shiva Temple in architecture. The sanctum has niches on the cardinal offsets, and the platform mouldings are bold and simple. The kalasha moulding being replaced on the cardinals by a band decorated with lotus-scrolls and on some projections by ornate square rafter ends.
The walls are plain with square pilasters decorated with a vase and foliage motif at the base and capital, a median band of scrolls. The doorframe of the sanctum has four ornamented bands with Ganga and Yamuna in sculpture on its lower part. The hall has four tall pillars and pilasters, adorned with vase and foliage.
