Jhalawar District




Jhalwar District is located on the south-eastern region of Rajasthan at the edge of the Malwa plateau. It is surrounded by Madhya Pradesh in the south-west and the Mukandra range on the north. The total area is 6,219 sq km.

The normal annual rainfall is 104 cm. The maximum temperature varies from 43 to 47 degree and minimum temperature varies from 1 to 5 degree. The rivers Kali, Sindh, Ujaad, Ahu and Parvan run through Jhalwar District. Jhalwar consists of exquisite pre-historic cave paintings, massive forts, thickly wooded forests and exotic wildlife variety. Red poppy fields and orange laden orchards make the countryside more attracting and colorful during winters. The area around Bhawani Mandi is an important place on the production of citrus (oranges) in the country. Wheat, maize, pulses, gram, jowar, paddy and bajra are the other major crops.

Almost all the towns are linked with the district headquarter, Jhalawar. The important tourist destinations are Bhawani Natya Shala, Buddhist Caves and Stupas, Gagron Fort, government museum, Jhalawar Fort, Bhimsagar Dam, Chandrabhaga temples, Dag, Dalhanpur, Jhalarapatan, Manohar Thana Fort, Nageshwar Teerth, Sun Temple and Rain Basera.
