Shekhawati

Shekhawati is a semi desert region of Rajasthan. During the medieval era, it was a part of the former Jaipur state and now it comprises the districts of Jhunjhunu and Sikar.

Initially this region had a blank monochromatic look but with subsequent historical and social development it has blossomed into a colourful profusion of art and life. This region is famous for its magnificent havelis of unique architectural style which are adorned with wall paintings based on the mythological themes, local legends, animals, portraits, hunting, and wrestling scenes.

The prime attractions of the region are Lachhmangarh, Churi Ajitgarh, Fatehpur, Ramgarh, Mandawa, Lohargal, Harsha, Mukundgarh, Dundold, Nawalgarh, Baggar, Chirawa, and Birla Museum. Main fairs and festivals include Khatu Shyamji fair and Shekhawati festival.
