Lachhmangarh




Lachhmangarh, a fortified town in the Sikar District of Rajasthan, was founded in the nineteenth century by Raja Lachhman Singh of Sikar. The town follows the layout adopted for Jaipur, with roundabouts and roads at right angles. Lachhmangarh is one of the most imposing forts of the Shekhawati region.

The places of interest at Lachhmangarh are Char Chowk Haveli, Sawant Ram Chokhani Haveli, Mirijamal Kyala Haveli, Bansidhar Rathi Haveli, Kedia Haveli and Sanganeria Haveli adorned with beautiful frescoes. Ganeriwala Haveli is most spectacular palace in the whole of Shekhawati region. Murlimanohar temple and the Chokhani Haveli are other attractions. Lachhmangarh is a major center of Shekhawati art.

Castle Mandawa that offers modern amenities, about 18 miles from Lachhmangarh, is quite popular with travelers. Shekhawati, RTDC, Haveli, Dera Dundlord Fort and Castle Mandawa are other hotels that provide accommodation at Lachhmangarh.

The Shekhawati region that includes Lachhmangarh can be reached by air from Sanganer Airport, 120 km away. The whole region is well-connected with a wide railway network. The most convenient way to tour Shekhawati and its surrounding areas, is by road. Buses, jeeps and taxis can be readily hired for local transportation.
