Udaipur District, located in the southern part of
Rajasthan, is surrounded by
Rajsamand and
Pali districts in the north,
Dungarpur District in the south,
Bhilwara and
Chittorgarh districts in the east, and
Sirohi District and
Sabarkantha District of
Gujarat in the west. Udaipur has a total area of 17,279 sq km with a population of over 2 million.
Average rainfall is 61 cm. The main Kharif crop is maize, which is main staple food of the farmers of this region. Other crops are jawar, bajra, pulses, and sugarcane. Best season to visit is from September - March.
The places of attractions are City Palace, Ahar Cenotaphs, Badal Mahal, Vedi Building, Bagdada Lake, Pichhola Lake, Nehru Island Garden, Sajjan Garh, Jagdish Temple, Udaipur Teerth, Nathon Ka Mandir and Jhameshwarji. The prime festivals are Shilpgram festival, Gangaur Festival and Mewar festival.
