Garhwa is the administrative headquarters of
Garhwa District in
Jharkhand. It is a major agricultural trade center in the district. Garhwa is situated 180 km north-west of
Ranchi - the capital of Jharkhand.
Major point of interest of the town is the Garhdevi Mandir. Other spots worth visiting around the town include include Gulgulpath (3819 ft), the second highest peak in Jharkhand, Saruat village (hiking trail) and the Parasdiha and Gursandhu falls.
Nearest airport is at Varanasi (140 km). Garhwa Railway Station is a major railhead of the Eastern Railways. National Highway 75 has its route through Garhwa.
