Sri Venugopalaswamy Temple is situated at Shivajinagar, a busy locale in the Cantonment area of
Bangalore. This is a century old temple built in the year 1902. Originally this temple was dedicated to Sugreeva, a principal character in
Ramayana. Now it also houses the images of
Rukmini, Venugopala Swamy(
Lord Krishna) and Satyabhama, which were brought here after a temple in the nearby Viveknagar locality was dismantled. The temple is administrated by a trustee called Reddy Bhoomi Kalyana Kula Brundam.
To the left of this temple is the famous Jumma Masjid. Further ahead, adjacent to the mosque, is Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple. To the left of Sri Venugopalaswamy Temple is St Mary's Basilica.
The nearest railhead is Bangalore Cantonment Railway Station.
