Sakist

Located 11,863 ft above sea level to the east of Kargil, Sakist is a village in Kargil District. It is about 192 km from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Santakhchan is towards the east, Sanjak to the north, Kanutse towards the east and Samchurche to the south. Mulbekh Gompa, Futu La, Namika La and Mulbekh Chamba, are some of the attractions outside the town.

Sakist can be approached easily on the Kargil – Leh Road. The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, served by the Northern Railways.
