Santakhchan

Lying at an altitude of 10,485 ft above sea level, Santakhchan is a charming town in Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is around 206 km from Srinagar and is to the south-east of Kargil.

Sakist lies in the west, Kanutse in the north, Skirbuchan in the east and Pachari in the south. Mulbekh Gompa, Mulbekh Chamba, and Futu La are some of the attractions outside the town.

The closest railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, served by the Northern Railways. The nearest airport is at Srinagar (207 km).
