Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary




Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on the right banks of Ujh River, northwards of Jasrota, about 63 km from Jammu, in Jammu and Kashmir. Spread over an area of 10 sq km, is home to a large variety of flora and fauna.

The sanctuary mainly sustains bamboo plantations. Major animal species found here include chital deer (axis deer), rhesus macaque, barking deer and wild boar. It is also home to a variety of birds including peafowl, red jungle fowl, jungle bush-quail, green pigeon and blue rock pigeon.

Best time to visit:
Birds: March to May.
Animals: September to March.

Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The nearest airport is at Jammu.
