Placed to the south-east of
Leh, Chumar is a small settlement in
Leh District of
Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 14,350 ft above sea level and is surrounded by
Dutung in the west,
Rupshu in the north, Zong in the east and
Chepzi in the south. Chumar is the point where the Pareechu River enters Tibet before draining back into India at
Sumdah.
Chumar is connected by road from
Nyoma,
Punguk and
Rhongo.
