Lying in the center of Shimla, Scandal Point is a large open square with a view of the town. It is also known as Lala Lajpat Rai Chowk. A statue of Lala Lajpat Rai (the Punjabi nationalist leader) has been erected here.
The place was so named because of the escapades of former Maharaja of Patiala. From here one can have a majestic view of distant snow-clad peaks. Scandal Point is a rendezvous for visitors.
Himachal State Museum and Library, St Michael’s Cathedral, Rodney Castle, Jakhu Temple, Viceregal Lodge, Lakkar Bazaar, Gaiety Theater, Kali-Bari Temple and Christ Church are located nearby.
