Kareri




Kareri is a picturesque village situated about 22 km from Dharamsala, in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. It lies at an elevation of about 1,983 m, on the Dhauladhar Sanctuary trek route in Kangra Valley. It is surrounded by meadows, rhododendron and pine trees. The entire region offers spectacular views of the Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges. Temples of Saint Durbasa and Kali are located near.

Kareri Lake (13 km) is the main attraction here. It is located at the base of the Minkiani Pass. Other nearby tourist destinations are Dal Lake, Triund, Baga, Kotwali Bazaar and Guna Devi Temple.

Kareri is inhabited by the Gaddis tribe. It is an ideal spot for trekking and mountaineering. Rest House is available for stay.

Nearest airport is the Gaggal Airport an the nearest railway station is at Pathankot. Kareri can be accessed on foot (14 km) and by road (22 km) from Mcleodganj.
