Pehowa is an ancient pilgrim town, located 27 km west of
Thanesar, in
Kurukshetra District of
Haryana. It is situated on
National Highway 22 and is 50 km south of
Ambala.
Historians attribute the origin of Pehowa as early as AD 882. Another version suggests it's nascent days to be during the reign of King Mahenderapal. References about Pehowa had been found in Vaman Purana and the epic of Mahabharata.
A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is the major attraction of Pehowa; the temple has no 'linga' but a panch - mukhi (5 faced) idol of Lord Shiva has been installed, which is said to be only one of its kind in the state.
Scores of pilgrims visit Pehowa to take a dip at the Saraswati Tank on the occasion of Chaitra Chaudas. Jyotisar, Aruna Teerth and Bhadrakali Temple are some other spot worth visiting around.
Saraswati Plantation Wildlife Sanctuary is just 10 km away from Pehowa.

Chandigarh Airport is the nearest airport. Ambala City Railway Station serves Pehowa.
