Jyotisar, the birth place of the holy scripture
Bhagavad Gita, is one of the famous holy centers of
Kurukshetra. It is about 12 km from Kurukshetra on the Pehowa road.
There is a 5,000 year old banyan tree, which marks the spot where Lord Krishna stood and showed his universal form to Arjuna. A marble chariot is installed in the site which depicts the message of Lord Krishna. An old Shiv temple and Brahma Sarovar is also here.
Kurukshetra Development Board has renovated the site and a mango shaped lake has been built. Covered bathing ghats, cement parapets, and pavement are also constructed. Flowering bushes and
eucalyptus trees enhance the beauty of the area.
Kurukshetra Junction Railway Station is 5 km from Jyotisar.
