Tsongkha-pa was born at Tsongkha region of Amdo province in East Tibet. He received a full fledged lay ordination from the Fourth Karmapa, Rolpey Dorjey at the age of three. Tsongkha-pa studied extensively and taught thousands of disciples mainly in the central and eastern regions of Tibet.
This great philosopher saint of Tibet is the founder of Gelugpa Sector. He wrote numerous books including The Great Exposition of the Stages of the Path, The Great Exposition of Tantras and The Essence of Eloquence on the Interpretive and Definitive Teachings.
Tsongkhapa attained nirvana at the age of sixty on the twenty fifth of the tenth Tibetan month.
