Swami Muktananda, the founder of the Siddha Yoga Sect, was born in 1908. He was the disciple of
Bhagwan Nityananda. Swami Muktananda taught that one could get enlightenment through the
Shaktipat method. Besides the
ashram at
Ganeshpuri in India, he has opened around 600 meditation centers, around the world. Swami Muktananda has written many books including his autobiography, 'Play of Consciousness.' He died in the year 1982.
