The temple is dedicated to goddess Renuka, mother of Lord Parashuram. It is believed that the temple was built overnight by Gurkhas in the early 19th century.
Renuka Fair, held on banks of the Renuka Lake in the month of November, is a major draw. Renuka Sanctuary, located here, is a major draw.
