Renuka Sanctuary

Renuka Sanctuary is one of the smallest but the most beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in the country. Located near Nahan in Sirmaur District, the sanctuary surroundings are remarkable with a scenic sacred lake and a number of temples.

The sanctuary harbors the rare species of animals such as chital, sambhar, kakkar, red jungle fowl, Indian antelope, Himalayan black bears, Asiatic lions and lion tailed macaques. A variety of birds including black pheasant, peacock and water birds can be found in the aviary.

Lion safari is arranged, and there is also a mini zoo in the sanctuary. Trekking and boating facilities are available. A tourist bungalow and cafeteria is here to cater to the accommodation and dining needs.

The sanctuary has a good road communication and regular buses are available from Nahan to reach Dadahu. A forty minutes walk from Dadahu takes to the sanctuary.
