Lying across the Ravi River, Ranjit Sagar Dam is situated in Kathua District. This dam was constructed as a hydro-electric project with the capacity of 600 MW. There is an Officers Colony situated nearby at Pathankote, 25 km from Kathua. Also known as Thein Dam, the beneficiaries of this project are the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
