Rangdum Monastery is an 18th century Buddhist monastery, located in
Rangdum of
Leh District, in
Jammu and Kashmir. Rangdum is about 130 km south-east of
Kargil.
This splendidly set monastery has an impressive location, perched on a solitary rock in the middle of the
Suru Valley, overlooking the massive mountains, the pastures and the bifurcated course of a wild mountain stream.
The monastery has a small museum, which displays interesting Tibetan and other artifacts. About 40 monks reside in the gompa. The villagers stayed near the monastery are basically the agriculture shrifts of the gompa.
Cars and jeeps connect Rangdum with Panikhar (65 km),
