Rangdum is an elliptical expanded plateau in
Leh District of
Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated midway between
Kargil and
Padum, about 130 km south-east of Kargil.
It is the most isolated and extreme part of the Suru Valley. The plateau is bounded by the beautiful hills, the pastures, the streams and the glacier encrusted rocky mountains.
Rangdum is an ideal tourist and trekking base. One famous trek leads this place to Henaskot near Lamayuru, across the gorge of the Kanji Valley.
An 18th century Buddhist monastery is the main attraction here, about 40 monks reside in this monastery.
Cars and jeeps connect Rangdum with Sankoo, Panikhar,
Ladakh and Parkachik.
