Shiva Temple is located at
Ponmanai, 7 km from
Kulasekaram. The temple is situated on the banks of the
Tamiraparani River. The deity of the temple is Lord Thimbileshwarar. This is a Shivalaya Ottam temple built during the period of Chola and Pandiya kings. Legend tells that a shepherd cutting grass noted blood outpouring from a stone. On removing the covering bushes he found a swayambhu lingam (a phallic idol). There is a nandhi mandapam in the temple where the nine planets are carved.
