Patur lies in the south-west of
Balapur tehsil in
Akola District. The town, also known as Nanasaheb Patur or Patur Shaikh Babu, is of historical importance. There is a rock carved Buddhist monastery in the east of Patur. The town has some archeologically important caves also.
