Nechi Dau is an important festival of
Aka tribes inhabiting in Arunachal Pardesh. It falls annually in November and lasts for four days.
A number of rituals are performed in the names of gods and goddesses during the festival. These are performed for the welfare of the entire village, for good harvest and to ward off the diseases.
Community feasts are arranged on each day of the festival and both males and females take part in cooking. The last two days of the festival are observed as taboo.
The highlight of this festival is Nechi Dau Dance, accompanied by colorful songs.
