Situated in a hilly area of about 13,546 ft, Narkial is a town in Kargil District. It is about 220 km from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, and 353 km from Jammu. Dumkhar lies to the south at a distance of 10 km.
Narkial is bounded by Santakhchan in the west (12 km), Goma Hanu in the north (18 km) and Skirbuchan in the south (9 km). Narkial can be easily reached by trek from Mulbekh. Jeeps and private vehicles are available from Leh and Kargil towards this place. The nearest railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, which is on the Jammu – Pathankot line.
