Morgaon is a pilgrim town in Pune District of Maharashtra. Located about 65 km south-east of Pune, Morgaon lies on the banks of the Karha River. Baramati is 35 km south-east. A branch road connects Morgaon to Jejuri, 16 km to the west.
According to local populace, the place’s shape takes after a peacock – hence the name. The focal point of the place is Mayureshwar Temple, one of the foremost Ashta Vinayaka temples dedicated to Lord Ganesh. Further, it is the only temple of Ashta Vinayaka with an idol of Nandi.
