Mayamari is a sacred place associated with Gaudiya Vaishnava Sect in
Simantadvipa, one among the nine islands of
Navadvipa.
According to legend, Lord Balram who was on a pilgrimage rested here. The brahmins of the area complained about the menace created by demon Mayasura. Upon their request, Balram killed the demon. Thus, the place got the name Mayamari.
