Lord Vishnu is one among the trinity of Hindu Gods. He is supposed to have taken ten incarnations, to extricate the world from the deluge of sin, each time. Balram, the elder brother of
Sri Krishna, is his eighth incarnation. His deeds include the extermination of the ape Dvivida and the demon Dhenuka, shaking the ramparts of Hastinapura (the capital city of the
Pandavas) and dragging the
river Yamuna out of its course.
