Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, formerly known as Kashi Vidyapeeth, is located in
Varanasi. This State University was established in 1920 by Babu Shiv Prasad Gupta to provide a different system education from that of the British.
It later developed as a center of national education with Hindi as the medium of instruction. Bharat Mata Temple is housed within the vidyapeeth.
It functions as a multidisciplinary university, offering varied courses in the fields of humanities, arts, sciences, social sciences, commerce, law, philosophy, physical Education and Yoga, social Work and Sanskrit and ritual Learning.
