Mahagaon is the headquarters a taluk in Yavatmal District. It is situated 9 km east of Morath, en route from Vijora to Kanha and is about 22 km north of Umerkhed. Malhiwri is 22 km north-east while Kanha is 13 km north-west of Mahagaon.
Painganga Wildlife Sanctuary and Sahastrakund Waterfalls are the major tourist destinations in the immediate neighborhood. Wan Sanctuary and Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary are other wildlife sanctums in the district, which are popular haunts for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Shri Ranganath Swami Temple at Wani, Chintamani of Kalamb and Mahadeo Temple at Moho village are pilgrim sites around.
