Lakong lies on the southern border of
Leh District in
Jammu and Kashmir. . It is a veritable paradise for nature lovers, mountaineers and trekkers. It is also the camp site for nomadic shepherds.
Shingo La is situated nearby. The trekking route from
Keylong to Purni passes through this village.
Lakong is accessible on the Kurgiakh – Zanskar route.
