Kunti Madhava Swamy Temple is a highly revered shrine of
Lord Vishnu, located at
Pithapuram in
East Godavari District of
Andhra Pradesh. It is about is 20 km north of
Kakinada.
This beautiful temple enshrines the idol of Chaturbhuja Mahavishnu holding in his hands mighty weapons such as sudarshana chakra, panchajanya, koumodaki and lotus. Mother Kunti installed this idol during the Dwaparayuga; hence the name Kunti Madhava Swamy Temple.
An annual festival held here in the month of Magha (January-February), starting from Eakadasi in the bright fortnight, attracts thousands of people from far-off places. Hectic spiritual activities are also conducted during this five days festival.
Close to this temple are Kukkuteswara Swamy Temple and Puruhutika Devi Temple, which were built during the 10th century.
Pithapuram Railway Station on the Chennai-Kolkata rail route is the nearest railhead. Bus service from Pithapuram to Peddapuram, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Kakinada and Uppada Beach is frequent.
