Kappal Matha Church is located at Ovari in
Tirunelveli District. It is a Roman Catholic Church rebuilt in 1974, as the old church for St Mary was damaged by the sea erosion. The structure is in the form of an aeroplane and stands on a ship, facing the blue sea.
A festival is celebrated on 18th September of every year. In this festival, the people carry Selvamatha statue in a chariot around Ovari in order to receive the blessings of Mary.
Uvari is a one and half hour from Tirunelveli Junction Railway Station.
