Ovari is a village located on the shore of
Bay of Bengal. It can be reached by traveling 40 km from
Kanyakumari and 72 km from
Tirunelveli. The beach sand has a high concentration of various minerals, the most important being garnet (a glassy silicate mineral). The two prime here attractions are Nadar Ovari, an ancient temple, and Bharathar Ovari, a Roman Catholic center. The village also houses a wind monitoring station.
