Kala Bhavana Museum is located within the premises of
Visva Bharati University in
Shantiniketan. It operates as a reserve collection of more than 19,000 articles. Though there are no exhibition rooms as yet, the holdings can be documented for the purposes of research and publication.
Featured items include patachitras, kantha embroidered textiles, masks, woven and embroidered textiles, originals by Rabindranath, Abanindranath, Gaganendranath and Nandalal, terracotta of Bengal, folk bronzes, kalighat pata and Japanese scroll paintings. The museum also holds a library, which has a good collection of books in various subjects.
Kala Bhavana Museum is open from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs except Wednesdays and University holidays.
