The Kadals of Srinagar constitute nine wooden bridges, built across
Jhelum River.
They are constructed using the cantilevered principle, with logs been arranged in a converse fashion, with alternate courses supported on a cutwater of masonry. Though new bridges and enhancements have arrived, these quaint ones still stand, testifying the durability of the old Kashmiri architecture.
The nine bridges are
Ali Kadal,
Nava Kadal,
Safa Kadal, Badshah Kadal,
Amira Kadal,
Habba Kadal,
Fateh Kadal,
Zaina Kadal and
Zero Bridge.
