International Center for Yoga Education and Research




International Center for Yoga Education and Research (ICYER) in Viluppuram District of Tamil Nadu offers one year international diploma in yoga, six month international yoga teachers training course, special ten-day introductory residential courses in the months of June, July and August and a 52-lesson correspondence course. Commenced in 1968 by Dr Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj, one of the five leading promoters of Ashtanga Yoga in the twentieth century, the center has sixty-five affiliated centers in twenty-two countries. For tourists, the center conducts special ten-lesson package courses in yoga, special demonstration of yoga asanas, special lecture - demonstration and performance of Bharatanatyam and Carnatic vocal concerts or lecture demonstration with explanation in English. Its publication department publishes books on yoga and Indian cultural arts and a monthly international journal ‘Yoga Life.’
