Heggunda is a hamlet situated in the
Tumkur District of
Karnataka. This ideal weekend destination offers plenty of opportunities to trek or just relax. According to legend,
Lord Ram visited this place after his Ashwamedha Yaga and tied the horse, Haya, to a pillar. Thus, the place came to be known as ‘Hayagunda’ and later it became Heggunda. The place has a massive rocky hill. The hill can be approached from the eastern side, through a narrow path. A small Hanuman Temple, pond and tiny stone pillar are the main attraction.
Heggunda Shri Ram Temple is situated on the top of the hill.
