Gaumukh Kund

Gaumukh Kund is a reservoir situated on the western side of the Chittorgarh Fort, a massive fort in Chittorgarh. A perennial fountain at its entrance is formed in the mouth of a ‘Gaumukh’, meaning ‘the mouth of a cow.’ The Gaumukh is actually a cleft in a rock face through which water flows out into the reservoir. Close to this kund is the Rani Bindar tunnel leading into the subterranean chamber, where Rani Padmini of Chittorgarh committed jauhar.
