Jauhar is a ritual suicide committed by Rajput women. The royal women of the defeated
Rajputs voluntarily vow to die on the funeral pyre of their husbands in order to avoid capture. In some cases, all those who were not fighters, including children, the old and the ill went to the funeral pyres. It is usually practiced by the Kshatriya Rajputs, which includes the fighting and warrior classes. Brahmins and the lower castes, did not take part in the practice. It is not directly connected with
