Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary




Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary is located in North Sikkim District of Sikkim. It is around 25 km from Gangtok and lies above the road between Singtam and Dikchu.

Spread over 52 sq km, this serene area is a treat for bird watchers and nature lovers. The sanctuary shelters the Himalayan black bear, red panda, civet cat and many varieties of birds and butterflies. It is a great place to see several species of laughing thrush including Red-faced Liocichla. The binturong or bear-cat is a rare civet noted here. Besides, several rare flora including wild orchids and rhododendrons can be spotted here.

The sanctuary is open to the visitors from 10:00 to 16:00 hrs and the best season to visit is March to late May and September to mid-December.
