Dwarakkal




Dwarakkal is a particular type of custom practiced in Lakshadweep Islands. It is performed to invoke divine blessing. This function is usually held after Markakalyanag. After Markakalyanag, the boy is taken to important mosques and the madrasas with a plateful of rice offerings (Cheerani) for invoking blessings. The function goes on for three days and three nights with communal singing and dancing.
