Araiyaninayagar Temple




Araiyaninayagar Temple is a Shivasthalam lying at Tiruvaraiyaninallur in Thiruvannamalai District. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple deity is known by the name Araiyaninayagar. There is a worship place for Arulnayagi. The temple has a huge gopuram of 160 feet high and three prakarams. Inscriptions dating back to the period of Cholas are found in the temple. In front of the main sanctum is the Navaratri mandapam. The Sthala Teertham is Pandava teertham. It is said that saint Sambandar has contributed pathigams in praise of Araiyaninayagar. The nearest railhead is at Tirukkovilur.
