Sri Khanda is a village located to the west of
Mayapur, in
Bardhaman District. It is about four miles west of Katwa. Being the birth place of Narahari Sarakara Thakur, it is also the home for many saints such as Mukunda Sarakara Thakur, Raghunandana Thakur, Chiranjiva Sen, Govinda Kaviraja, Damodara Kaviraja, Ramacandra Kaviraja, Balarama Dasa, Ramgopal Dasa, Pitambhara Dasa, Saccidananda Dasa, Jagadananda and Ratikanta Thakur.
Sri
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is also said to have visited this village. The major attractions include the seat of Narahari Sarkar, the bhajan place of Bhardanga, and the deities of Sri Gopinatha, Sri Gauranga, Vishnupriya, Madana Gopala and Syama Raya. These deities were installed by the son of Raghunandana, Kanai Thakur.
Frequent buses ply from major parts of Mayapur to Katwa. The nearest railway station is at Khanda (one mile) on the Bardaman-Katwa railway line and the airport is at
Dum Dum.
