Banke Raya Mandir

Also known as Bankim Ray Temple



Banke Raya Mandir - also known as Bankim Ray Temple - is a famous shrine located at Ekachakra in Birbhum District of West Bengal. It was constructed by Birchandra Gosai. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna who is worshipped here as Banke Raya. The deity was discovered by Nityananda Prabhu of Gaudiya Vaishnava Sect. To the left of the deity is Radha who is worshipped here as Srimati Radharani and on his right is Jahnava Devi. The deities Muralidhara and Radha-Madhava are worshipped on a separate altar. To the right of this temple stands the ancient temple dedicated to Madan Mohan Krishna. Ekachakra is well connected by road and rail. The nearest railheads are Mallarapur Railway station (8 miles east) and Rampurhat Railway Station (11 miles north).
